And did you get what

you wanted from this life, even so?

I did.

And what did you want?

To call myself beloved, to feel myself

beloved on the earth.

- A poem called Late Fragment by Ramond Carver

3 Words to Describe My Classes

Functional, Creative, Intentional

Favourite local business

There are so many amazing local businesses in the city - it's impossible to pick just one! Some favourites include:

  • Little Victories Coffee - Located in the Glebe, Little Victories serves the best coffee in Ottawa. Try the magic when you go!

  • Chesterfield's Gastro Diner - My favourite spot for brunch! They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait in line but know it's 100% worth it.

  • Heartbreakers Pizza - If you like pizza and haven't been here yet - GO. Bonus points that it's a 2 minute walk from SoulSpeak.

  • Bar Lupulus - Fantastic and creative cocktails alongside a great craft beer selection.

Favourite way to move my body

I love cycling! I was given a free road bike a few years ago and, after fixing it up and getting comfortable on the roads, it's been so fun discovering all the different routes in the city and across the river.

One thing I would change about the health/wellness/fitness industry if I could

Accessibility. Jivana Heyman writes that yoga, by its very nature, is accessible and the parts that are not accessible should be questioned. A great resource to learn more about accessibility, diversity and inclusion is the Yoga is Dead podcast.

Favourite song to teach to

If you come to my class there is a 99.9% chance that something by Leif Vollebekk will be on the playlist.

Favourite song to dance to

I Know a Place by MUNA

Favourite way to unwind

I'm a huge reader and love getting cozy with a new book! My top reads for 2020 include Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi, The Emperor of all Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee and Exhalation: Stories by Ted Chiang. Right now I'm working my way through Obama's latest book, A Promised Land!
